Deadpool Bugle: Preview Art from Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth #5

You know, I don't really get what about the art bothers so many people. I've met people who refuse to read it just because of the art. I likes it.

I agree, what matters the most is the writing, but I do love it when the art and writing are both great.

Meh as long as Deadpool is recognizable (in the work suit), I'm game.

The writing though, I'm picky about. It seems with all these mini-series and guest shots, it looks like people are just throwing in the guy in a spider-man-esce suit and throwing out non-sequitors and multiple captioned boxes.

The art is getting better and better. But nay sayers are just that. They are just looking for an excuse not to enjoy more deadpool =p. And I get to read the word bong in a marvel comic at least once a month now which does help my opinion.

    Ok that made me chortle.

I've liked Bong's art since I first saw the previews for the Thunderbolts crossover, but I can understand people's dissatisfaction, his stuff can be a bit inconsistent. However, for this book's plot and subject matter, the artwork simply fits. And even critics of his work gotta give props for the panel in #4 where Dr. Betty turns her shoulder and a scorched Deadpool asks her for a Fresca, Bong really hit that one out of the park.

I think I even prefer Bong Dazo over Paco Medina, but that might be just because Medina's not drawing Dr. Betty 20 times over each issue. :-P

Great, now I'm going through old issues looking for Dr. Bong because now *I* want bong in my Deadpool comics.

Bongs art started off iffy for me, but after the second issue it began to grow on me.

I love this series, it's good old mindless fun and that's what Deadpool should be. Victor is doing a great job and I hope he continues to write Deadpool because he's slowly working his way up to becoming one of my favorite Deadpool writers with Joe Kelly and Mike Benson.

Alright, I've been converted, I am really getting into MWAM now. The latest issue (4) made me laugh several times.

I didnt like some of Bong's other artwork
But as far of his art in MWAM, I like it it suits the writing well IMO

    I still prefer Paco though...

This is the closest to classic Deadpool out right now .... off the wall adventures with not such serious ties to continuity with the rest of the Marvel U ... and to be honest I didnt like Bong's art at first ... but Bongs are awesome and so is that name ... but the art grew on me and he is great with the visual gags .... and c'mon its not like there hasn't been worse art in a Deadpool comic before ... anyone see #900 ??? who drew that story with the psychiatrist .. the art was atrocious what the fuck was up with the size of Deadpool's hand in one of the panels .... MWAM has really stepped it up in my mind with the other Deadpool title being hit and miss ... this one has serious potential and Victor is showing a great knack for writing Deadpool at the same time I can understand some of the skeptics of Wade's ever growing popularity, not everything he's in is gold but if you ask me its been a long time coming... I was born in the 80's grew up in the 90's and have read Deadpool from the beginning ... not New Mutants beginning ( although of course I went back and read that ) I first saw him in X-force and the circle chase and always saw the potential for him to be really big and really dug the character, and for someone with the and i hate to use the cliche "cult " following that he has, now that he's blown up people are looking for reasons to hate on the new shit.. I know there are some downfalls to the overexposure and all that but it did give us a fun new title that doesn't have to be bogged down with current continuity or have to deal with anything Dark Reign and to me that's what Deadpool is all about ... no boundaries and lots of fun this to me is more of the classic Deadpool than Way's series (although i do like that title most the time too) Bottom line if you like Deadpool you really shouldn't be missing out on MWAM

    That's a great point?

All the haters that complain about Deadpool being popular should read this series mainly because of the fact that it's kind of outside the current comic continuity. However it's those same haters who hate this series because of the art or something so I guess they'll never be happy.

Is continuity really the primary concern of people who dislike this title? The complaints I've read have been about some mysterious inadequacy in the writing that I've never been able to detect.

    inadequacy?

    nah....
