Deadpool Bugle: Deadpool #900 out 10/14/2009

  • deadpoolfan1 · 2 months ago
I think Benson's story was the best followed by Van Lente. Benson should take over the main book.
  • Name · 2 months ago
    How common is the variant?
  • Deadpool Bugle · 2 months ago
From what I could find online, 1:10.
  • Pitalla · 2 months ago
    ufff, thank godness.
I hope we never get the case of that Mcguiness cover of hulk 1:200. srsly thats just merciless for deadpool fans.

I assure you that they did it since Loeph got such an expensive crew for the event and the only way to be sure that it would pay off was by doin that 1:200 BS.

Dam you Loeph! your so bad that not even people can spell your name properly! Dam you for makin us miss the variant covers :(
  • deadpoolandfriends · 2 months ago
It's 1:200 for the Hulk cover? DAMNIT!
  • vicegt · 2 months ago
this cover look's sweet. im getting 900 this week.
  • neverthrive · 2 months ago
has anyone else noticed that the curve from the mimes shoulder to head on the silloete woman's breast really makes it look like a nipple? any ways 10/14/09 HAPPY BIRTHDAY to shaggy 2 dope.
  • deaderpool · 2 months ago
Variants main purpose is to drive collecters crazy by finding a creative way to make essentially buy the SAME BOOK TWICE.
  • blaine · 2 months ago
    the varient is fucking sick
  • Jaimy · 2 months ago
I don't really mind which version my comic book store carries, for me it's what's on the inside that counts. Plus, I don't get why the heck you would want to have the same book multiple times.

Though usually I try to get the 1st printing, considering most variants aren't that great.
  • HalfBeard · 2 months ago
I don't usually get variants either, unless it really grabs me aesthetically. Usually the only variants I get are the ones that cost the same as the standard cover. Except for that Salvador Dali issue of Spider-Man... that one was very beautiful.

Can't wait to pick this up today... jus another 4 hours until I'm done with classes and I can go pick this behemoth up.
  • dipperf · 2 months ago
I think that's lady deadpool in the outline
  • mrwadewilsonhimself · 2 months ago
No that's the james bond look they gave the cover
  • manoflegend · 2 months ago
i love 90 percent of this issue all of it was just grade A deadpool cept the story about the chicken and the egg ...awful art and bad story . loved the rest though
  • Pitalla · 2 months ago
Its like.. in what where they thinkin?!
The author of that story should go play in traffic.
  • TheMelmo · 2 months ago
I definitely agree. It was like those anime video games. The art was meant to be unique, but just ended up failing.
  • mrwadewilsonhimself · 2 months ago
    Deadpool rules!

    The rest? Fuqq um
  • rj-b · 2 months ago
Kelly's and Gischler's stories were good stuff. the rest was either 'alright' or '...that was interesting...'

didn't know the last half of the issue was the Widdle Wade team-up...kind of disappointed by that, i was hoping for 104pgs of new material. but it's cool that they included that for people who haven't read that issue.

anybody have a super magnifying glass to see the "201-900" covers?? seems kinda funny.
  • Pitalla · 2 months ago
yeah, kelly and gischler's stories where my favorite ones!

All the other ones where bad or alrite, lol at jason aron's black humor.

Secret wars deadpool... it is actually a pretty nice classic deadpool altought I was expecting moar new material.
  • DeadpooltheHun · 2 months ago
You guys werent big on bensons??
  • numb007 · 2 months ago
Is it me or does Rob Liefeld not realize that #900 starts the Deadpool team up numbering backwards? 899...898...897...
  • Ricewinewolf · 2 months ago
I like kelly's story and the rest was ok. Thought the mime story and especially the chicken and egg sucked. All in all i give it a C+
  • the_ace_of_knaves · 2 months ago
Thought it was great. Joe Kellys story was utterly hilarious, and even Liefelds art wasn't THAT bad. Well, it was still bad just not as bad as I expected from him.

Charlie Hustons story was bizarre and pretty deep. I loved what he did with Moon Knight and I dig what he was doing with Deadpool. Wouldn't mind him having a crack at the ongoing.

The first story was pretty funny. I loved the way it sorta, reverses the movie Aliens. The Aliens taking the place of the marines, and Deadpool stalking them in their own ship.

Van Lente's was my favourite though. The art was, well crappy, but the story was brilliant. The moments of introspection from Deadpool are the deepest I've ever seen him be written for a very long time. And the twist at the end shows that Pool, whilst a funny bastard, really is a cold hearted bastard but with a set of morals and is not one to be fucking with.
  • rj-b · 2 months ago
was Van Lente's the mime story?? (don't have my copy here to check.)
  • the_ace_of_knaves · 2 months ago
Na his was the one where Pool goes to the shrink.

THe art was sooooooooo bad. lol. But the writing made up for it.
  • rj-b · 2 months ago
the shrink was Benson. pretty sure Van Lente's was the mime story.
  • The_Crimson_Nutcase · 2 months ago
Unfortunately I was unable to get it, but hopefully maybe on friday i'll be by my old comic shop and maybe they'll have it...
  • RoQ · 2 months ago
I liked the stories of Aaron, Van Lente, Huston and the CSI.

Kelly wasn´t that funny, and ROB! sucked, also Kelly joined the schizo thing
  • rj-b · 2 months ago
...by 'joined', you mean a single panel, two white boxes with a total of, what, four words??

nevertheless...it was kind of a bummer to see that...
  • Pitalla · 2 months ago
oh, the mime story was freakin epic.
Why did you liked Lefields art? I tought it was pretty well done.
Considerin that he usually makes human disproportionate, I think that he got tired of all the spankerin and polished he's art here.

Joe Kelly didnt wanted to write deadpool again cause he was afraid of disapointing the fans, I did liked he's story altought I admit he lacked a bit of shine. He just needs to get used to it again in order to get the train back n rollin.
  • neverthrive · 2 months ago
no offence, but is english your first language?
  • Ricewinewolf · 2 months ago
Yeah Kelly will be all right once he gets back in the swing of things i think. And yeah once again Benson didn't dissappoint!! I'm telling you, i really love his take on Deadpool, i want to see him get a shot.
  • dipperf · 2 months ago
loved it... but why was the widdle wade story at the end
  • rj-b · 2 months ago
my guess is, since it was a 'team-up', they found it fitting to put it in the issue, considering the team-up series runs backward from #900.
  • dipperf · 2 months ago
well it's not so much a team up as a fight...but yah
  • JarasM · 2 months ago
Damn, I miss the ♪ Hellhouse ♪♪. Nice to see a flashback of Patch's den of mercenary-ie (?) at least.
  • Ricewinewolf · 2 months ago
Yeah i miss Hellhouse too. Patch, C.F., and Fenway were great. They never revealed what C.F. stood for did they? I remember back then that everyone was asking but Kelly wouldn't tell lol.
  • Underdax · 2 months ago
I always considered it to be Clay Face, which I'm pretty sure I just made up myself because of the way his body behaved.
  • Alex Jamieson · 2 months ago
I think it was revealed as "Chew Floor" in the final arc of Kelly's run....when Wade fights the Hellhouse and Cf and Fenway back him up, CF takes someone out, crying "Chew Floor"....the way the scene is written suggests that this is where his name comes from, as this exclamation causes DP to recognise him.

    Hope that's clear....
  • Underdax · 2 months ago
Maybe you're right. I never made that connection, but I have a surprisingly clear memory of CF's expression as he said the line.
  • Underdax · 2 months ago
I was so disappointed when I finally got through that really boring "chicken and egg" story and discovered that all the remaining pages were from an old comic that I've already read.

The part of the flashback in Kelly's story where the child starts to say Deadpool's name but is cut off at "W" was a nice touch.

So are the team-up issues counting their numbers backwards maybe? Has the numbering for the issues following the first one been revealed?
  • Underdax · 2 months ago
(I just had the brilliant idea of checking Marvel's website to find out for myself, and the second team up is indeed #898.)
  • Underdax · 2 months ago
I just had the brilliant idea of reading a few posts above mine.
  • DeadpooltheHun · 2 months ago
Bensons story fucking stole the show (for me)
  • Roy_Fizzle · 2 months ago
I havent read much of the old seires so that last bit was really nice. And omg did i wanna blow my brains out during that story about the chiken or the egg. Makes me wish i was the reader who got his brain splattered. lol
  • Ricewinewolf · 2 months ago
Wow alex that was some Wile E. coyote like genius there! lol I clearly remember that! yeah he shoves the dudes face through the floor saying chew floor punk and then sniffles cuz Dp gives him a compliment. I never made that connection either. Good call bro.
  • Capo_Del_Bandito · 2 months ago
Well, Liefeld still can't draw feet.
  • deadpoolandfriends · 2 months ago
I loved Kelly's Story. The story it self kicked the heads off of all the other writers and took a shit down their throats. It was PAINFULLY Obvious that Joe Kelly still gets Deadpool, while all(most) of the other writers are trying to write him just like Way does. Now all the other stories had their funny parts to it, but Kelly's story made buying this book worth the $5. I could rant on this more in depth, but i'm gonna save that for this week's guest appearance on the "Of Mercs and Mutants" pod cast.
  • DeadpooltheHun · 2 months ago
beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnsssssssssssssssssssssooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnn. I thought he brought his own unique style to deadpool (I like, I like), reminded me of (cant remember name, guy who did cruel summer and punisher etc) run.
  • DeadpooltheHun · 2 months ago
Wow, that was shit, my point more was that benson brought depth to deadpool and seemed to get his character, and that he wasnt trying to be like way.
  • sirnougat · 2 months ago
Benson's story was fine but it SO obvious where it was going. I dunno. I wasn't surprised with the ending. The introspection is nice. I like Deadpool having a bit more depth than just jokes. but the story, in general, was adequate and way too obvious.
  • sirnougat · 2 months ago
Kelly's story, in contrast, was friggin hilarious. I was worried that I might be disappointed but he totally nailed it.
  • Grakk · 2 months ago
Benson's story was great I thought, but the art was so stylized I had a hard time understanding sometimes.
