Deadpool Bugle: COMIC: Deadpool Team-Up #899 out 11/04/2009

really disappointed...the first half of the issue was unnecessary background exposition of either character, and much of the humor fell flat throughout. granted, there were some good chuckles on the last couple pages (save for the political cheap shot -- for a second, i thought Fabian was writing again...), but overall i was unimpressed.

but hey, there's always something fresh next month. hopefully we'll have some one-and-done issues in this series that are real gems -- and hopefully from a writer who comes out of nowhere to present a really good DP story, as some of the 'newer' writers just aren't making the cut.

(btw, anyone else see that Dark X-Men comes out in Novbember?? talk about missing the spell check...)

Enjoyable for the most part. Nothing entirely new, but the jokes were well done at least. It was more thought out humor, I prefer that.

This was one of the best Deadpool stories I've read in a while. Its a must-buy.

Some of it fell a little flat, but over all it was a really fun read and worth my $3

Aw come one RJ-B that was a good issue it was better than i thought it would be. It was a really good issue they should rotate the writer back in it some how.

like i said -- some moments of well-written humor, but two pages can't make up for the other 20-some that were mediocre. from this issue and his [unoriginal] story in #900, Van Lente doesn't impress me at all -- relies too much on exposition to push a story along. i can't get into stories when writers have to explain the motives/background of characters that blatantly.

I was so happy at first.

    *SPOILERS*

I thought after he'd defeat his other sides in battle, It'd be the death of the other voices in his head. I thought it'd be a deep issue of him coming to terms with himself in that sense and he'd no longer need to have that internal struggle with himself.
    *END SPOILERS*

    But it wasn't so goddammit.

I coulda bought 3 tacos w/ the money spent on 899.... but I'd still spent the money on 899 after reading. I enjoyed it.

    Cereal?

It was good, but I still don't like it when writers make Deadpool hate on himself. It isn't funny, it doesn't add anything to the comic, all it serves to do is piss me off.

Like it or not, its part of deadpools character (ahoy there mithras, T-ray, cruel summer etc), deadpools mind is not "fun", he had fucking cancer, he killed an innocent man (debatable), in other worrds, he's had a horrrible life, these things add depth to an otherwise lacking comic.

I'm sorry, now that I look at my post I said that wrong. I hate at the end when he said that he as a character was undeserving of a third series and that they were milking it.

gotta love the "insert fourth wall breaking refrence here" line. Overall fun issue.

It was alright. Given the sensationalism of the cover I was sort of hoping for more.

But seriously, get Robert Kirkman and Phil Hester to do an issue of Deadpool Team-Up with the Irredeemable Ant-Man and I will die a happy man.

This has been the best Deadpool issue I've read in a while. It was entertaining. In Way's series Deadpool is becoming a mainstream hero that everyone keeps saying he's unpredictable. This was a fantastic issue with great jokes in it.
There was some fantastic shit in this issue:
    1. There was a great Monty Python reference: "Its just a flesh wound".
    2. And the response to that "If you quote Monty Python one more time we'll take days killing you"
    3. Some crazy shit with Deadpool fighting his own psyche.
    4. Various moments of breaking the fourth wall

Deadpool: "I have to celebrate my third ongoing! I'm gonna suck every dime outta this inexplicable and totally undeserved popularity until my lips fall off"
Hercules: I have no idea what you are talking about!

And of course the final splash page with Deadpool and Herc getting hammered in Tijuana and watching people beat the sit out of Arcade with sticks.

Ive gotta say I wan't sold on the whole Deadpool Team-Up but now I loved it, Fred Van Lente has done a fantastic job with this. I am definitely going to start collecing this series, probably depending on who he teams-up with.
